Jack’s Mannequin’s latest EP is here! The Ghost Overground was released yesterday as an iTunes Store online exclusive. Now all that’s left is the excruciating wait for their upcoming album The Glass Passenger, due out on September 30th.

The EP includes two new songs: The Resolution and Bloodshot, in addition to two beautiful live renditions of Kill The Messenger and Holiday From Real.

it’s 3am and raining out, the kind of rain that’s torrid and heavy with big fat raindrops that splatter on your window pane at full force, not the tepid drizzly ones like the showers we get in moscow.

On account of their phonetically similar sounding names, a close friend of mine somehow managed to mix up the amazingly hott David Boreanaz (who makes me positively light headed, I google up his images in my spare time and I can’t even help myself from adding that extra ‘t’ in hot because only one simply does him no justice), with this guy.

This here is Dave Barnes. Which resulted in a little confusion for us both because all this while I’ve been mentioning how much I think my boyfriend looks like Mister Boreanaz and he has kept correcting me saying “it’s Barnes, darling”, when we were actually referring to two completely different guys. Yes Faisal, I hope you’re happy now.

Anyhoots it turns out Dave Barnes isn’t all that bad either, if his music is anything to go by. I’m quite enjoying that song for the video clip up there, Until You.

Ah it’s one of those nights… When you can’t resist smiling stupidly at the wall after receiving a super sweet sms and you’d like to slap yourself silly for feeling utterly and thoroughly twitterpated beyond the limits of reason. So excuse me for sounding like a little lovesick schoolgirl, but I am having one of my moments right now.

I miss my guy. He’s persevered and stuck with me despite the mountains of crap I keep throwing at him.

Plus, I swear he has David Boreanaz’s cheekbones.

So I’m typing this whilst eagerly following continous updates on the WWDC 2008 Keynote Live Coverage over at MacRumorsLive.com. Partly because I actually am interested in getting myself an iPhone one of these days -ish, and partly because we have company in our room and she’s a crazy wacko who doesn’t seem to care much for what I think so I really can’t be bothered. Would very much rather prefer being left out, than waste my energy pretending to be interested in a meaningless conversation of which my opinions keep being disdainfully ignored to boot thankyouverymuch.

10:54 am: Showing 2 medical-based applications. First, The first is a learning application for remembering the names of parts of the body. They will have dozens of apps available within weeks of the App Store launch. The second medical app is from MIMvista.

10:58 am: The MIMvista application is for viewing medical imagery. Takes advantage of the touch screen to change the information shown, zoom in and out, and scroll around. The images can be rendered in 3D live too. The app will be available at the launch of the App Store. The last demo comes from Digital Legends.

This sounds promising. I’m not much of a paper person when it comes to my med notes (meaning I prefer to read Bailey & Love’s in the form of a .pdb file using iSilo via laptop, even powerpoint slideshows I save in .jpg format to be viewed on my iPod -it saves the hassle of making printouts and are much easier to carry around by far), plus whipping out a PDA for reference purposes seems grossly unhip to the comparably less fugly sleekness of an iPhone.

11:36 am: 2.8X faster. Approaching WiFi speeds (WiFi scored 17 seconds). When compared to other 3G phones (Nokia N95 and Treo 750), the iPhone is 36% faster — and better looking.

Not that looks matter. Well, wait. Maybe they do. Our visitor is having a chat with my roommates and between bits of static that come up as I listen to play-by-play broadcasts on thedigitallifestyle.tv, I can hear her lamenting on the seemingly unfeasible task of losing unsightly belly flab. Hokay she’s actually pulling up her tee and showing us said belly flab in attempt to highlight the severity of the situation. This is a big deal apparently, cause she’s meeting her future in-laws in a couple of weeks.

We all wanna look good. Call me superficial for thinking that owning an iPhone would do the trick, but it sure would be cool to carry one around! Making me seem neither sensible nor intellectual in any way, yes I know. I like shiny gadgets. Shiny gadgets make me happy so there.

And whoa wait a sec…

11:45 am: Now on to the final challenge — affordability. Started at $599 for an 8GB iPhone, now $399. The iPhone 3G 8GB will sell for… $199.

That’s half the price of the previous non 3G model, and a whole lot cheaper than the current phone that I’m using even -a now very worn Nokia 6111, purchased in it’s heyday. What’s left to consider? The tech specs are more than enough to cover my basic needs and I don’t really give two hoots about the camera function or lack of a external memory card slot because I still have a perfectly functioning digicam and iPod for those purposes.

Okay I really really want this.

She’s serenading my roommates to the tunes of Celine Dion for some unfathomable reason. These earphones are doing nothing for me. Talk about rowdy. Oh waitwait okay she’s done phew. Wonder how much longer I’ll have to keep facing my laptop just to get out of inane chitchat.

We’re almost over with the conference updates it seems. And so to wrap it up…

p/s: Doesn’t anyone else find it absurd that Russian is mentioned among the languages offered for iPhone’s Language and International keyboard and dictionary support when it isn’t even officially going to be available in this country, not according to the list anyway?
