on the subject of hot dads.
Rufus Humphrey is absolutely without a doubt, the Hottest Dad Ever.
The way his gaze was completely transfixed on Lily from the moment he saw her.
Phew. Made me catch my breath right there.
It’s really no wonder he made BuddyTV’s list of 15 Hottest TV Dads. Also on the list include among others Nathan Scott (OTH), Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz!!! From Bones. I have loved him since his days on Angel. Who knew vampires could be so good-looking?), Sandy Cohen (The O.C.) and about 11 others.
What makes a hot dad, you wonder?
According to BuddyTV:
… what qualifies as a hot dad. Yes, for some people on the list, simply being physically attractive was enough. For others, it took a bit more of the fatherhood aspect. A hot dad is a devoted father, one who loves his family, one willing to do anything for them. A hot dad makes you want to marry him, adopt his kids, and start a life together.
Of course, being a fictional father would probably require much less patience and effort than the real thing. But one presumes these few basic rules would apply.
#1. A hot dad must, well, be hot. Looking good never hurt anyone. Having a healthy and toned physique will most definitely earn you the respect and admiration that is necessary as a father, bearing in mind the discipline that goes into maintaining a good appearance. Undeniably keeping fit would also please your significant other :)
#2. A hot dad is someone who is constantly in control of any situation, able to preserve a cool head in a crisis and always seems to know what he is doing (even if he really does not). It’s important for members of the family to be aware that their well being is in good hands so handling every problem as if you are on top of it will make any dad uber hot.
#5. A hot dad should be smart and knowledgeable. Um, so the kids wouldn’t have to resort to googling everything.
#4. A hot dad is a religious dad. We’re not talking about being overtly pious or anything, just realize that as a figurehead and a leader of your family, it is essential to know what you stand for. Every hot dad must be willing to put his foot down when it comes to matters of faith. He must also exercise his authority with wisdom and loving guidance.
#6. A hot dad admits his mistakes when he makes them. Is not above brushing his wounded ego aside to ask for an apology where it is due.
#7. Hot dads can cook! Not necessarily anything extravagant, at least a special meal or two. And occasionally helps out with housework.
I’m sure there are more prerequisites for a hot dad that I haven’t thought of about, these are just a rough idea of my preferences.
Maybe it’s all subjective anyhow. My version of a hot dad may be waaay off from yours, who knows?
Example of a hot dad (sorry ma, I had to crop you out for emphasis):
For the record, my dad is balding grouch.
He is the kind of guy who very rarely shows affection, hardly ever picks up his cell phone, wears mismatched socks to work and to this day won’t let me drive without a chaperon. And I am frickin 21!
But he’s hot because of the wrinkly bits around his eyes that show on the rare moments we see him smile. And I secretly think he’s almost as brilliant as Stephen Hawking, that’s how intelligent he is.
The guy just got out of the hospital for a cardiac condition (first degree heart block, nothing major but still scared the hell out of us) and he’s already back at the university. Can’t bear the thought of his students without a final sem exam ha.
And although he’s not the parent we go to for heart to heart conversations (which are so much more my mother’s turf) me and my siblings understand that it can’t possibly be easy having to share a household with four finicky daughters (before my youngest brother came a long that is). Add my mom and that makes for a whole lot of female energy totaled up. Just imagine how frustrating that must have been for any guy.
I remember growing up happy and carefree with my sisters, without a clue in the world how he must have had struggled to make ends meet, raising a family with four small children and a stay-at-home wife, as a government scholar in a foreign country.
There was this one time he took us out out for a drive, circling a jam-packed parking lot of the Old-Trafford stadium several times too many it got kinda dizzying. I forgot who was playing but I can recall asking him why we were just going round and round but not stopping to watch the game inside, and he just gave me this unfathomable melancholic look.
He’s a typical football fan, and we never let him win the remote. Go figure.
Anyways, my dad is a hot dad because of all these things. And I love him no matter how impossible he can be at times.
In case anyone is wondering where the the hell did all that come from? I am writing about my dad and all things dad-related in conjunction with the upcoming UEFA Champions League finals happening in a week. The Luzhniki stadium is a mere kilometer away from my hostel and I really can’t help wishing he were here so I could take him to watch. Plus I mentioned my mum in a couple of entries back, so this is me trying to be fair lol.
Also I could not resist drooling over Rufus Humphrey’s devastatingly charming performance and thought I’d share. The song he is singing is Everytime by his band Lincoln Hawk. If anyone knows where I can find an mp3 of that song please let me know!

.yup..i think the fatherhood part does pretty much sums up the hotness factor.with that, our dads can still stay hot even in his 70’s.a hot guy/dysfunctional dad couldn’t be a good thing either eh?
.the nearest one could get to that song is a tv-rip-off mp3 file in Limewire. that band haven’t release a full single of that song yet..
rufus humphrey ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I love to read this!
100% agree with this:
“#2. A hot dad is someone who is constantly in control of any situation, able to preserve a cool head in a crisis and always seems to know what he is doing (even if he really does not)”
So, found yourself a future “hot dad” for your urmmm future children?
What a question!haha
navarro: i don’t use limewire and i am a lazy bum so don’t ask me to download it. send me the song if you have it, please ;) ?
ayu: i knowwwwwwwwwwwww. ohsodreamy lol.
nadrah: people always say that you should accept a guy for his flaws as well as his virtues… and i do agree with that. i just believe that it would be best not to have those flaws flung in your face left and right though.
some guys don’t seem to get that although we hardly expect them to be perfect we do however wish that they try their best, at the very least.
no girl would want to settle for a loser if they can help it.
as for your Q, we’ll have a chat over coffee sometime soon okay!
